I’ve spent the past 13 years working professionally as a Family Therapist in Private Practice and Community Mental Health.
Much of my work has centered around children and adolescents that have experienced trauma or family crisis.

Approach to counseling
For some people, therapy is a launching pad. When they get the support that they need, they are better equipped to handle the rest of their week.
For others, therapy is a laboratory. A place where they’re figuring out solutions to the problems they’re facing in their lives.
For some, it’s like a gym. They practice new skills, gain new strengths, and work hard to accomplish their goals.
In our work, we use a person-centered, strengths-based approach in a collaborative relationship with you.
In other words:
While we’ll have an opinion about what we think might help, you will be the one that chooses the focus of our counseling.
We will be looking at something to head towards and not just something to move away from. You might say, “I’m tired of being sad,” but one of our first tasks will be to figure out what you want to feel instead of sad. That will be our goal of treatment.
Counseling is going to be one part of your life, for a time, then WE’ll be sending you on your way to keep learning and growing.
